Which Tribe is the Largest in Nigeria?

The Hausa tribe is the largest tribe in the whole of Nigeria. They constitute at least 25% of the country’s population. The estimated population count of the Hausa people is over 67 million people. The Hausa tribe is situated mostly in the Northern part of Nigeria. Their main occupation is farming. They are responsible for the production of most food crops like Onions, tomatoes, sugarcane, pepper, rice, maize, and beans and the raring of cows and even goats. The Hausas are also known for their long-distance trade activities.

The Hausa tribe is one of the tribes in Nigeria that has maintained the customs and practices even after the colonization, there has been very little change to their way of life.

The ruler of the Hausa tribe is Emir who is supported by Fiefs who rule over the villages.

The religion of the Hausa people is Islam.

The Hausas tend to marry close relations, especially their cousins. Their women are not allowed to work outside their homes. Their main responsibility is to take care of the home and prepare meals.
